So, I have two different problems that I need to ask about.

One. I have Sony Vegas but all my files are avis and it doesn't recognize them. What is a good converter that I could use, that isn't going to ruin the quality, and even is there a way to get it to work in Vegas?

Two. While I couldn't use Vegas I started a vid in the new Windows Live Movie Maker. And I noticed last night that when you save it, it crops the end of the video so that it comes out as a little rectangle. Is there a way to get it to stop doing this? I have already redone this video twice and have put a decent amount of work into it, and I really don't want it all to have been in vain.
