Radisson Hotel Questions...

Postby Urzu 7 » Tue Jul 03, 2012 9:23 pm

Hey everyone! I'm on staff AND working at the hotel we'll be at this year, so I'm the "go-to" guy for any questions or concerns. This includes, but is not limited to: Reservations, Parking, Rates, Area Info, and Food. Feel free to PM me.

Hope to see you all there!

Yes, I have a question!
Why does the location page say 300 Elm Street when the link links to 700 Elm Street? I attended GraniteCon last month, which was located at 700 Elm Street and I can tell you it is a third of the size of the Radisson in Nashua where the last two AAC's were held.

The entirety of GraniteCon, my mom (who's volunteered at the Green Room for AAC and got a lot of "Oh, I love her!"s at AnimeBoston from the AAC booth xD) and I kept commenting "Boy, AAC better NOT be here. There's no room!!" There are only three ball rooms for panels, and one massive room for the Dealer's room and/or Artists' Alley... it's very tiny.

We even drove up and down Elm Street to try and find 300, but it just isn't there.
Please address this issue; many thanks!!

You didn't see all of the event space. There's a 4th ball room that's the size of the first 3 smaller ones combined, 5 more event rooms in the hotel itself, 5 more event rooms over by the expo center, and the entire 30,000sqft expo center itself.

In terms of raw square footage of rooms we're now in a venue twice as big as the previous one. On top of that, there's also more room in the open hallway space than before.

Based on what I have heard from various staff members, the con has all this, plus various rooms on the second floor.

Trust me, AAC does not just rent a space and hope it fits. AAC WAS in the hotel when it first opened until 2007 I believe.

Hello! Just wondering if there is free parking in the area. If so, where? I have my doubts if any are free, but, I wanted to make sure.

(Don't plan on staying at a hotel, and I don't know if hotel-goers get free parking or something like that)

Thank you!

I got to this a bit late, but yes, we have every square foot of possible meeting space available. All 65,000 square feet. The address of 700 Elm Street is the correct one. The hotel and Expo Center are all connected without having to walk outside. What you did see was only a small portion of what we have.

The parking rates for hotel guests (staying in a room) is $10 per night, per vehicle. This is for unlimited access in and out during the stay. However, for day guests (attendees at the con) there is also parking available. However, it is limited and may not be guaranteed. The rate is $5.25 with a validated ticket. This is good for a one-time use only. Each time you leave, it'll be the same. Other parking options include on-street parking, which is free after 8pm on Friday (unless you park directly on Elm street between Bridge and Granite street). http://www.manchesternh.gov/website/Departments/Parking/tabid/182/Default.aspx See this link for more information on street parking in Manchester.

There are Various parking garages available in the downtown area (well within walking distance to the hotel).
-Victory Parking Garage (25 Vine Street): $6/day
-Pearl Lot (45 Orange Street): $5/day
-Lake Ave Lot (40 Lake Ave): $6/day

Along with other "pay per hour" lots, you have some choices in the area. So, sorry I kinda indirectly answered the question, but there is no real place for free parking.

Urzu 7 provided a lot of useful information... worth noting, however, is most on-street parking (except for part of Elm street...see the map on the city's website he linked above) is free on the weekends, as well as Friday evening. Additionally, most of the time-limits on spaces are relaxed in the evenings and weekends.

You just have to make sure to pay attention to the signage at the particular location you chose to park.

Is there a bicycle rack anywhere on premises that I could lock my bike up on, or a place I could do it? My dorm is a few block away from the hotel so I'd either walk or ride a bike depending on if there is a place I can put it.

My friends and I are trying to register, and we're getting the message "Unfortunately the promotional rate is not available for the weekend you selected" when the dates October 19-21 are selected for the stay. Does this mean that the hotel is indeed sold out?

As per the other thread, yes, the hotel is sold out for Saturday and Sunday. We have a nearby overflow hotel room block at the Hilton Garden Manchester which can be seen on the Location Page.

We don't have any bike racks in front of the hotel, but if you ask the front desk, they could hold it in their office for you.

You can always ask, we do offer one sometimes. But, I'll be honest, the chances of someone cancelling is usually last minute. In order to cover your bases, I'd secure a room at the overflow property first.

My friends and I are trying to book at the overflow hotel. It seems though that the discounted convention rate is only valid if you stay Friday-Sunday...so if we were to book a room Thursday-Sunday, would we have to pay the regular rate for the entire 3 days as the website shows?

That sounds like an issue you should call the Hilton Garden and talk to someone in the hotel, make sure to not get an outsourced call.
